Visit Dental Crown

Have You Heard About One – Visit Dental Crown?

If you know you need a new dental crown then you have probably prepared yourself for a bit of a wait. Conventional dental crowns require at least two weeks as they have to be custom-made in a dental laboratory. During this process the prepared tooth is protected with a temporary crown.

With a conventional dental crown, you will need two visits to Eco Dental for treatment to be completed, but with a one-visit dental crown you’ll be able to leave our practice with your new crown firmly in place. There will be no need for a second visit and no need to wear a temporary crown.

How Do One-Visit Crowns Work?

With a one-visit dental crown our dentist will prepare your tooth in exactly the same way as normal, using local anesthetic to keep you comfortable (Read more: Oral Sedation Dentistry). From then on the process is quite different as instead of a dental impression being taken of your tooth, it is scanned using a tiny camera. This information is sent to a computer allowing our dentist to custom design your new crown.

Next, a solid pre-shaded block of porcelain is selected from the huge range we keep on-site so your new crown can be milled while you wait. This will only take a short while, after which the crown is hand finished and is characterized and glazed as required.

The result is a beautiful precision-made crown. The fit of these crowns is extremely accurate, providing maximum protection for your tooth by sealing out bacteria and saliva. These crowns are strong and long-lasting and are in no way a compromise on quality.

Advantages of One-Visit Dental Crown Treatment

It can be a huge advantage to have a one-visit dental crown, particularly if you have a special event coming up in the near future or are about to go away for work or on vacation.

You won’t have to worry about wearing a temporary crown as even though we do fabricate these very carefully, they still don’t look as great as our finished crowns. Another nice thing about this treatment is the lack of a dental impression as we know some people find this process awkward or uncomfortable, particularly those with a very strong gag reflex.

Are One-Visit Dental Crowns Always the Best Solution?

One-visit dental crown can be great for numerous situations and we can achieve extremely good and very natural results using this system. However, sometimes we may recommend you have conventionally fabricated crowns, even if the process takes a bit longer to complete. This might be the case if you require a complete smile makeover with multiple restorations.

Sometimes it is simply better to have them handcrafted in a dental laboratory by a dental technician with years of experience in smile makeovers. They can custom design all your restorations so they blend in beautifully, giving you the smile you desire.
